IN THE RUINS

This exhibition is an installation composed of ceramic sculptures on the theme Findings From the Ruins. When for the first time I was exhibiting works on this theme in 2001, news of destruction rolled around me. Ruins were reality, not only ancient ones, those leading us to vanished cultures, but modern ones as well. Even now, nearly every morning when I open the newspaper, through the texts and pictures I hear noises and sand dust penetrates into my lungs.

I have given these sculptures names of butterflies which for me, as the most harmless of all creatures, represent innocent victims found in ancient and modern ruins.

After the theme Findings From the Ruins I have continued on the theme Earth, Air, Blood and Water. In that I have modified the context of four elements replacing fire with blood. Blood signifies battle and combat, earth, air and water endangered conditions of existence.
